Experimenting with Google Reader’s Shared Items
While there are dozens of interesting applications for Google Reader’s Shared Items feeds, we’ve decided to try one on Tech Dispenser. Basically, we’re going to ask out network of over 100 bloggers to share their shared feeds with us. We’ll then aggregate them and an editor will filter them for publishing on the site. This addresses 2 current issues with the model:
- Increase our relationship with our publishing partners by allowing them to dictate what appears on the site
- Compete with algorithmic aggregators by including content outside of our blog network
